On behalf of the CSI Richmond Chapter, I want to wish you all the most Happy New Year!  The ringing in of a new year always brings opportunity for exciting opportunities and a chance to reflect on the past.  We have a great event planned for this month!  The CSI Richmond Chapter will be hosting its annual dinner at the Robin Inn on Thursday, January 28, 2016.  President Elect Steve L'Heureux will be hosting the “Long Term Planning Discussion for 2016 and Beyond.”  Steve is an architect and senior associate with Commonwealth Architects, served two years as a director on the CSI Richmond Chapter board, and is half way through his year as president elect.  I always enjoy this event because it gives members and friends of the CSI Richmond Chapter the opportunity to discuss what the Chapter has done well and what we can do better.  The event is a lot fun too with a cash bar happy hour beginning at 5:30 pm and a delicious sit-down dinner beginning at 6:00 pm.  It is a great way to shake off the winter blues.

On Friday, January 8, 2016, the CSI Richmond Chapter is hosting its first Lunch and Learn of the new calendar year.  The topic for this month is “Gypsum Shaft Wall Systems” Presented by Ray Hay, Jr. of USG Corporation.  Networking begins at 11:45 am and the presentation starts at 12:00 pm.  The cost if free, lunch is included, and 1.0 AIA HSW LU credit will be given.  Please join the Richmond Chapter at the James Monroe Building in Downtown Richmond for another great one of our Lunch and Learn programs.

For the reflection (and boasting), the CSI Richmond Chapter and the Richmond Chapter of the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) partnered together to provide a presentation on “Controlling Risk through Information Management: Strategies for Handling Documents and Communications” on November 18, 2015.  Our presenters were James R. Watson, Esq. and Betsy Ennis Dulin, Esq., P.E. with the Construction Law, Public Contracts and Design Liability Group of Coates & Davenport, P.C. in Richmond, Virginia.  Jim and Betsy gave an exciting and informative presentation.  The turnout of attendees was outstanding.  And, the CSI Richmond Chapter and Richmond Chapter of ASPE cannot thank Baskervill enough for hosting us.

On December 10, 2015, the CSI Richmond Chapter hosted its annual Holiday Party and Past Presidents’ Recognition dinner at the Westwood Club.  Many thanks need to go out to Barbe Shaffer for coordinating such a wonderful event.  Once again, we had record attendance.  I also want to thank my wife Lizzie for sharing her birthday with us all!

Lastly, I want to thank all of our sponsors for their generous support of the CSI Richmond Chapter.

Visit the “Our Sponsors” drop-down tab on the Richmond Chapter website for a look. We hope that after considering this opportunity, you will decide to support the CSI Richmond Chapter.  Sponsorship makes our events possible.
