CSI Richmond Chapter
President’s Message - September 2015
I wish to welcome everyone to a new year for the CSI Richmond
Chapter. I speak on behalf of the
officers, directors, and committee chairs when I say the CSI Richmond Chapter
has a great year of events planned. Thanks
to the guidance of the Richmond Chapter’s Immediate Past President, Winnie
Sung, the Richmond Chapter finished the past year on a very high note. The Richmond Chapter’s social and education
events were well attended, the Products Show garnered record participation by
vendors and attendees, and the Chapter was awarded for the third time in a row
the CSI Outstanding Chapter Commendation Award!
Kudos to Winnie—we would not be where we are now without all you did!
I have many things to report, but first I want to give a brief
introduction of the new “Board.” Many of
the officers and directors have returned this year with the intent to continue
the Richmond Chapter’s forward and upward growth begun and developed over
several years of superb leadership.
Winnie Sung, RA, CCS, CCCA, LEED AP BD+C with Glave & Holmes
Architecture will be serving as Immediate Past President. Steve L’Heureux, AIA, CDT with Commonwealth
Architects stepped into the position of President Elect after serving for two
years as a Director. Jon Anderson, CSI,
CDT with Tremco Sealants and Waterproofing moved into the position of Vice
President also after serving for two years as a Director. Mike Bricker, RA, NCARB with Balzer &
Associates, Inc. and Tony Hawkinson, CDT, LEED Green Associate with Hankins and
Anderson, Inc. will be continuing their positions as Treasurer and Secretary
respectively. Anne Durkin, AIA, CSI with
the Johannas Design Group, Mary Ann Petry, CSI with Kjellstrom and Lee Inc.,
and Gib Deshazo, CSI with Emerald Construction Company will be continuing on as
second term Directors. The Richmond
Chapter also welcomes three new Directors.
Carissa Mulahn, CSI with MB Contractors served as the Programs Chair
last year. Cindy Cordo, AIA, LEED AP
BD+C with Wiley|Wilson and Andy Richmond, CSI with France Environmental, Inc.
joined the leadership team of the Richmond Chapter this year.
The CSI Richmond Chapter has a number of exciting events planned for
this upcoming year. On September 24,
2015, we are kicking off the new year with a social networking event and
membership drive at Ardent Craft Ales.
We are very excited about this event.
A special portion of this event will be a drawing held in which the CSI
Richmond Chapter will pay for one-half of the membership cost for two
prospective members. That’s a value of
$147.50 for two, lucky new members! We
encourage members to please bring a prospective member at no additional
cost. Also, new members who joined CSI
within the past year are invited to attend for free. Richmond Chapter members who have been
members for longer than one year may question why the registration fee for them
is $20.00. The cost includes one drink
ticket and dinner, but also please think of this as your contribution to
growing the membership of the Richmond Chapter.
On that note, were you aware the Richmond Chapter has over 90 active
members? When was the last time you
attended a Chapter event? Please join us
for a fun night of social networking to see what the Richmond Chapter has
planned for the year and to meet the new leadership. September 24th should a great time to enjoy
the deck of Ardent on a Thursday evening!
Lastly, we have simplified our sponsorship and advertising opportunity
into one package to maximize our sponsors’ exposure on the CSI Richmond Chapter
website, in the monthly Richmond Report newsletter, and at all Richmond Chapter
events, all for one low price of $350.00. Also included in this price is the opportunity
for sponsors to provide project spotlights in the Richmond Report. This gives our sponsors multiple
opportunities to place their brand in front of our membership, as well as all
of our website visitors, and will include a direct live link to your company’s
website. Visit the “Our Sponsors” drop-down tab on the Richmond Chapter website
for a look. We hope that after considering this opportunity, you will decide to
support the CSI Richmond Chapter.
I say again and on behalf of the leadership of the CSI Richmond Chapter
that we look forward to an exciting new year.
Our events are open to all. Please
check your email and the Richmond Chapter website regularly for notices and
information about upcoming events. We
also welcome participation from members and will be glad to have your
assistance on any committee! Please feel
free to email us or grab someone from the leadership team on September 24th!
