President’s Message

By Winnie Ma Sung

March 26, 2015

I am happy to announce the appointed Nominating Committee has completed its prescribed assignment and will prepare a ballot for the slate of officers and directors for the fiscal year of 2016 for the Richmond Chapter!  The nominated slate is as follows:

President: Joe Oglesby

Immediate Past President:  Winnie Sung

President Elect: Steve L’Heureux

Vice President:  Jon Anderson

Secretary: Tony Hawkinson

Treasurer: Mike Bricker

Directors FY 2015 -2017: Anne Durkin, Gib DeShazo, MaryAnn Petry

Directors FY 2016 -2018:  Andy Richmond, Cindy Cordo, Carissa Mulahn,

The candidates consist of both existing dedicated board members and new members who are eager to serve and to carry on the CSI mission.   I especially want to welcome two new members, Andy Richmond and Cindy Cordo, as the new nominated incoming directors.  The election of the FY 2016 for the officers and directors will be conducted electronically by the end of March.  Look for the electronic vote in your email and cast your ballot electronically. Joe Oglesby will be the incoming president and I look forward to working with him as he continue to move the Chapter forward.

Margaret Chewning conducted her second boot camp for the Richmond CSI last Saturday.  Last year was the first boot camp in the history of Richmond chapter. We want to thank Margaret for her commitment and dedication in promoting CDT certification exam and her willingness to spend her entire Saturday going over CDT exam material with the study group.  She is very knowledgeable and knows the entire PDPG by heart and able to recite it backward.  We are very thankful and privileged that she is willing to do it the second time.  Of course, the boot camp was possible because of the many volunteers in the Chapter.  I especially want to thank Steve L’Heureux for organizing the entire event including getting breakfast and lunch, setting up and cleaning up the room.

We have been able to keep each event cost to a minimum because we have dedicated member such as Gib Deshazo, president of Emerald Construction, who generously allow Richmond CSI to host the events at his company’s conference room.  Both the CDT boot camp and Jeopardy game are held at Emerald Construction in March.

The February joint chapter event with Women-In-Design, Gray Area between Discipline panel discussion, has been postponed to September.  Anne Durkin and Carissa Mulahn had put many hours in preparing for this event. We hope to keep the speakers and the venue together for September, especially the free wine.

Remember the next three BOD meetings will be held at Emerald Construction!  Come and join us if you want to know what Richmond CSI is all about!
